Songwriter/Singer/Lead Guitarist - Robert Rude
Robert "Rude" Brown has been a Portland, Oregon music icon for nearly 25 years. As an accomplished singer, writer, producer, and guitarist Robert Rude has recorded over 300 songs during his career as a recording artist and musician. His musical journey has spanned a spectrum of artists including 70's rockers Sweet Tommy, Scott Free, and recording legends Rita Morano, Robert Goulet, and Charlie Musselwhite.

A 'Nimble' Guitarist
Through the early 1980's, as a member of the Portland based band Nimble Darts, Robert wrote or co-wrote over 50 songs, 16 of which were recorded for release on an independent, full-length album. The completed album rests in a recording vault tantalizing the band's fans even to this day.

A Certain Attitude
In 1983, Robert turned his attention to writing and playing his own material, fronting the group "Robert Rude and The Attitude". The group recorded and released one album which quickly sold over 5000 copies. Compared to recording legends Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, and Tom Petty, Robert Rude and 'The Attitude' garnered local and national attention.

Following a decision to take a hiatus from production, Robert shuttered his recording studio Chameleon Productions (where he produced recordings for Portland rap group Grass Roots, amongst others) and vowed to create music that would for the first time, draw upon his vast array of influences and talent.

Rude No More
Brown's commitment and conviction was realized in the Robert Rude Band's CD entitled "Arcade". Joined by players Ken Broadfoot, Howard Gee, Troy Stutzman, Carlton Jackson, Ben Jones, Kevin Rankin, Justin Johnson, Mike Krum and Frank Mills III, The Robert Rude Band has now taken on the name of frontman Robert Rude and though the band's lineup continues to evolve, recording has commenced on the band's sophomore release at NMP Studios, Portland, OR.

Title of the New Album
It has a working title: "Tales of Urban Madness". Sound clips now available from the main page!

About The New Album
When interviewed during the recording process for the still untitled new album, Robert Rude shared some insights concerning the band and the evolution of the Brown sound.

On the Band:
"I have never in my entire career worked with such inituitive and talented players as Carlton Jackson (drums) and Brian Casey (bass). I started to write the songs independently of the band, but as of the intitial sessions this effort will be a collaboration in order to realize this group's full potential."

On drummer Carlton Jackson:
"Time is not a magazine when Carlton plays. He is the most musically accomplished drummer I have ever had the honor of working with."

On bassist Brian Casey:
"Brian has the ability to effortlessly add and change the rhythmic and hormonic landscape of the songs bringing the arrangements to a level I never dreamed possible before. Brian playing bass is like having not only a bass player but a rhythm guitar at the same time."

On the sound of Album II:
"The new sound is a bit swampier...a bit dirtier.

 What's New in 2004?
Hello:

As we start another year, I thought it would be good to relate some news concerning our plans for 2004.

By the time you receive this, I will already be back in France, where it appears the builders have taken up residence with me! I cannot wait for them to be finished as within a few months I will finally have a home for my huge collection of books on Spiritualism and Spiritual teachings. For a number of weeks each year the house in Brittany, France, will be available for people to visit and we hope to hold some small, but intensive classes and groups there. My book collection will also be made available for the first time ever to visitors.

In March, I head to Basle, Switzerland for another week with my friends Mathais and Eva Guldenstein. This will be one of three trips to Switzerland this year. Details are on the calendar on the website.

In April, I return to New York City, one of my favorite cities in the World. I get to meet clients, see some shows, and hunt around the antique markets, all this while dodging the famous yellow cabs! At the same time I will be talking with Warner regarding the publication of my next book, so watch this space!

Then the big event for many of us this year starts on April 17 and lasts for a whole week. Can it really be a whole year since our last Bahamas retreat? Yes it is, so off we go again to the glorious resort of Xanadau! This year's event is truly exceptional, and I didn't think that that it would be possible to pull together the people that we have in store for you. My great friend and mentor, Peter Close, has agreed to travel from his home in Thailand to be with us. Peter will be recreating the original development circle he first taught over 30 years ago. This led the way for many professional mediums working today. Ellie Fristensky cofounder of the L.O.V.E Centre in Long Island NY, and now a resident of Mississippi, will also be joining us. Other friends, Mediums John Carol from England, Ann Burbedge also from the UK. and Hollister Rand from U.S.A will also be there. Oonagh Shanley - Toffolo, another good friend who is a former nun will also be speaking at the retreat. Oonagh's story is truly amazing. After 20 years as a nun, she obtained Papal dispensation to leave her order and travelled to India to care for the sick. She met Mother Theresa, who introduced her to Diana, Princess of Wales. Oonagh, also qualified as a nurse, took care of the ailing Duke of Windsor until his death. Later when she returned to London, Oonagh became the Spiritual guide to the Princess. In between all this, Oonagh managed to be invited to China, one of the first western women to be invited after the cultural revolution, where she studied acupuncture. When I read all this, even I, who travels extensively, took a big breath!

As well as my esteemed colleagues named above, I know that we will have some surprise visitors, so if you have not booked for the retreat do hurry, we already have some 68 people attending and we will soon be closing the list for attendees. You will not want to miss this week as due to the various schedules of those involved, I doubt if we could organise this exact guest list again. There will be lectures, demonstrations and workshops, and private sittings will be also available.

After the retreat I head to Florida to visit Barbara Simons and the Center for Human Development, which will once again be my home for a week or so. This I believe will be my 10th visit. Where do the years go? I am delighted that John Carol will be joining me. For those who have not met John yet, he is such a wonderful medium.

After Florida, California is calling. This will be a brief visit as I will be returning later in the year for a more extended period. After California, I return to Long Island, N.Y. where we have some very special events planned, so check the website for details.

I hope as we all go forth into 2004, this year brings you all that you wish for yourselves and for others.

Blessings

Robert ...

A Healing Organization providing a special kind of help...
Following the hugely successful demonstration in Las Vegas where Robert was part of the "John Edward & Friends" event, among the many friends Robert made
was Susan Whitmore, who through the passing of her daughter Erika, started her own journey of discovery. Her website www.griefhaven has many interesting features, advice and practical guidance from parents who have already experienced the loss of a child, I think many of you will find this site interesting.
